Cousin remembers
"Heads and Hands" Project in Hilton
Jeff Spring, (below), student in Quest Elementary School, sorts through boxes of new hats and gloves with Matt Marek. The winter gear was donated by classmates in memory of Jeff's cousin, Scott Spino, who was killed by a drunk driver last October 31. Mr. Spino was a beloved teacher at Rochester City School District's School #22 on Zimbrich St. "Kids from all over Quest donated gloves and hats," Jeff said. "We decided to donate them to kids at School #22 because their school is not wealthy." The service project was selected to honor the memory of Scott Spino because "He was good-natured, kind, giving, sincere and caring. He lived life wanting to make a difference in the lives of each child. He repeatedly stated to his students that he only wanted them to succeed," according to Quest teacher Brenda Carpenter.
